We’ve all come across the combination of feeling worried and afraid. This can make us seem down right lonely, not sure of ourselves or even rethinking why we are here in the first place.
The closer we get to God, the more frequent the challenges seem knock on our door - attacks from the enemy or situations for God to strengthen and develop us.
We encourage you to jot these verses down in a safe place. A place where you will revert to in the midst of your emotions.
"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."
God commands us to not be afraid, worried or discouraged. He then promises to be with us and reminds us that He is our God. The same God that has brought our ancestors through many trials and journeys promises to remain with us as our story is being written. He doesn’t promise to take our pain away, but to use difficult situations as opportunities to strengthen and help us as the Good Father He is.
1 Peter 5:7
"Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you."
Because He cares for you, He wants you to bring your worries, fears and doubts all to Him. You can’t continue to hold onto your cares and expect God to act. He needs your faith and trust to make the next move. Give it ALL - not bits and pieces we think He can take care off. Where is the faith in that? Give it to God and allow Him to blow your mind in extraordinary ways. It will take humility and putting our pride aside and accepting the need for help. Don’t submit to circumstances but to the Lord who controls circumstances.
"No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you."
If there were any promises you should keep in your heart, it should be God’s. Here, he used Moses as an example. Yes, Moses was able to do many great things with the direction of God, but remember he had his doubts, worries and fears too (Exodus 3:11-22). Just as God was with Moses and many others in the Bible, He also promises to be with you. Not only does He promise to be with us, but He also promises to not fail us or abandon us. Take this hope and move forward with such a peace that God is many steps ahead.
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Psalms is filled with many expressions of worship and praise especially in the midst of a storm. Stick this verse somewhere near to remind you to praise and thank God for being with us throughout the thick and thin even in the darkest of times - our God is there every step of the way.
"So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Do not be afraid or panic before them. What is your “them?” What prompts you to succumb to panic and fear? God commands us to be strong and courageous in moments as these as He promises to personally go ahead of us. Remember - we are limited to human capacity, but our all powerful and all knowing God assures us that He is in control.
A common thread throughout the verses above is God's assurance that He will be with us through the journey - when times are rough He will will not abandon us.
